Whether you have a new crush, an old flame, or you simply plan to spend Valentine’s Day with a special friend, determining how to ask them to be your Valentine can be a bit of a challenge. Here at Starr Celebrations, we are big fans of Valentine’s Day celebrations, of all types! We are playing Cupid and giving you a list of cute ways to ask someone to be your Valentine.
1. Never underestimate a sweet, cheesy line.
When you’re not quite sure what to say, polite, sweet, and a bit cheesy just might be the way to go. Text your crush on Valentine’s Day with a line that will make them smile, and if you’re not sure what to say, here are a couple of our faves:
“Anyone who says Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth has clearly never stood next to you!”
“Are you a camera? Because I look at you and smile!”
2. Give flowers or plants.
You can never go wrong with flowers or plants on Valentine’s Day. If you go the flower route, some favorite V-Day blooms are roses, lilies, and tulips. Roses are classic for a reason and there are many stunning colors from which to choose. Lilies are an ideal blossom for an elegant recipient and can be just as stunning as roses. Tulips may not like an obvious choice but they are bright, cheerful, and sweet, making them another excellent choice for your Valentine.
3. Bake homemade treats.
Surprise them with tasty homemade goodies. Even if you make the easiest recipe you can find, baking something yourself shows effort and how much you care. If somehow, your creation ends up not tasting quite as yummy as you planned, know that your Valentine will appreciate the gesture more than anything.
4. Use your talents.
If you happen to be skilled at writing, drawing, playing instruments, etc, there’s no better time to utilize those talents than to ask someone to be your Valentine! If you are an artist, create a one-of-a-kind sketch. If you are a writer, draft a poem or a note that expresses how you feel. If you are a musician, perform a heartwarming serenade. There’s nothing more personal or memorable.
5. Make homemade valentines.
The joy of receiving homemade valentines as a kid is just as special as an adult! Get crafty and create handmade paper valentines. Adding candy is a must! We’re big fans of candy hearts, Hershey Kisses, and Smarties. The nostalgia from early Valentine’s Days will make this idea even sweeter.
6. Incorporate your Valentine’s interests.
Be creative and incorporate your Valentine’s interests. Think about their favorite colors, hobbies, foods, animals, places, and extracurricular activities. You can take them to their favorite park, pick up food from a restaurant they love, or even give them a stuffed version of their favorite animal - anything, big or small, that shows you pay attention to what they like and you care about their interests.
Ultimately, Valentine’s Day is about expressing love and appreciation for those special people in your life. Happy Valentine’s Day!
